Course Contents Overview of the course and the group assignment
System design and scaling rules
Aerodynamic and structural rotor design and analysis
Drive train and electrical system
Wind turbine control
The use of standards for load calculations
Other optional material (tbd)
Study Goals In this course you learn various aspects of designing a wind turbine, including:
Selecting approaches for design and analysis
Collect information and data
Use (simulation) programs, models and calculations
Analyse and interpret results and draw conclusions about the design
Make design decisions
Although the assessment is performed by a group assignment, effective teamwork skills are not an explicit learning goal of this
course. There is no learning material or assessment to address such skills. Nevertheless, proper teamwork will contribute to a
good outcome of the design activities.
